Hidden among the most charming streets of the Sant Antoni neighborhood—on Passatge Pere Calders, a corner full of history and great atmosphere—Bar Calders was born in 2011 with the aim of reviving the spirit of Barcelona’s traditional bars, those places where people stop without watching the clock, where vermouth becomes a tradition, and conversations flow as naturally as the good vibes.
When we opened our doors, Parlament Street was very different. A button factory still operated nearby, along with some well-known old anchovy curing houses in Sant Antoni. Where Bar Calders stands today, there used to be Bar Paloma, then a fruit shop, and even a bar with the curious name “El Vaticano.”
Over time, the landscape has changed, and today Parlament Street is one of Barcelona’s most renowned streets for its culinary offerings and vibrant atmosphere. And we’re proud to have been here from day one!
Why Bar Calders?
Our name, Bar Calders, pays tribute to the writer Pere Calders, a master of everyday imagination and subtle humor. Like his work, the bar aims to offer a refuge halfway between reality and a kind of domestic magic, with a terrace that seems frozen in time and an atmosphere that invites you to come back.
More than just a soulful tapas bar in Sant Antoni
Our philosophy and way of doing things at Bar Calders are clear: authenticity, simplicity, and warmth are our banner. No frills, no rush—just quality and the desire to do things well.
